Marie Denise Gervais, M.D.

Dr. Marie Denise Gervais is an Assistant Professor of clinical Medicine in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine.
She received her medical degree from the State University of Haiti in 1991 then pursued Public Health training at Bichat School of Medicine in Paris, France.
After a residency in Family Medicine at UM/Jackson Memorial Hospital, which she culminated as Chief Resident; she completed an Academic Fellowship in Faculty Development at the University of North Carolina/ Chapel Hill.
Dr. Gervais has been actively involved in Academia at UM since 2000. She was the Medical Director of the CHS Community Health Center in Little Haiti, Miami (2002 -2006) and Medical Director of the Miami Edison Sr. High Adolescent Health Center (2007- 2009).
From 2009 she became the Director of Pre-Doctoral Education in Family Medicine at UM. And in 2014 Dr. Gervais was appointed as First Assistant Dean for Admissions and Diversity at the University of Miami.
Throughout her career Dr. Gervais received multiple accolades: from awardee for excellence in teaching for almost a decade to leading the best clinical course at UM for many years in a row. Her role modeling, teaching and dedication to the community have inspired countless pre-medical and medical students Dr. Gervais continues to be an Attending Physician at Jefferson Reaves Sr. Community Health Center in Overtown and continues to teach and mentor UM medical students and Family Medicine residents.
Transforming lives through community service and mentoring are her passion.
